Sell your gold.
Sell gold in San Diego — jewelry, scrap, coins and broken odds and ends, weighed and tested in front of you at our La Jolla counter since 1926. Our customer base is why we can pay against the live market rather than a discount to it.

We test and weigh every piece in the open, explain the day's gold price, and pay you on the spot. No deceptive offers, no pressure — just an honest number for what you actually have.
14k and up, wearable or not. A single broken chain or a whole drawer of forgotten pieces is equally welcome.
14k and up, any condition
Wearable or not, whole or broken — gold is gold.
No mystery, no games
Free, unhurried, and honest.
Out of town? We buy from a distance too — ship your item to us, and once our experts finalize the sale your payment goes out right away.
Start your quoteWhat gold buyers are actually paying for
A gold offer is arithmetic, not opinion: purity multiplied by weight, priced against the day's market. We test the karat in front of you, weigh on a certified scale you can see, and show you where the spot price sits at that moment. If a piece is worth more as jewelry than as metal — a signed period piece, a good stone, a maker's mark — we will tell you that too, because we sell jewelry as well as buy it.
That is the part worth understanding before you walk into anywhere: a buyer paying purely on melt has no reason to mention that your bracelet is worth more intact. We would rather make less on a piece than buy something from you for less than it is worth.
Where to sell gold in San Diego
There are three kinds of gold buyer in this county: pawn shops, mail-in outfits, and jewelers. A pawn shop is lending money and prices for the risk of not being repaid. A mail-in service makes an offer once your gold is already in their building, which is a poor moment to start negotiating. A jeweler who retails gold has an actual use for it, which is why we can generally pay more than a scrap price.
We are a licensed jewelry buyer — No. 000000356 — in the same family for three generations, on Prospect Street in La Jolla, minutes from central San Diego. The appraisal is free, it takes a few minutes, and there is no obligation to sell once you know the number.
Do you buy gold, or only jewelry?
Both. We are gold buyers in the plainest sense — 14k and up, wearable or not. Broken chains, single earrings, dental gold, a whole drawer of odds and ends: it all weighs the same. Bring it as it is.
How much is my gold worth?
Purity times weight, against the day's market price. We test and weigh in front of you and explain the number rather than just quoting it. Karat matters more than most people expect — 18k carries roughly a third more gold than 14k for the same weight.
Do I get more selling to a jeweler than a pawn shop?
Usually, yes, and for a structural reason rather than a generous one: a pawn shop is pricing a loan it may not get repaid, while a jeweler who retails gold has somewhere for it to go. That is not a promise about any particular piece — it is why the two tend to differ.
Do I need to clean or repair anything first?
No. Don't polish it, don't fix it, and don't break it up. We buy in any condition, and a repair almost never returns what it costs when the piece is being valued as gold.
How soon do I get paid?
The same day. Agree on a price and you leave with cash, or a wire if you'd prefer it that way.
Can I sell gold from outside San Diego?
If you're not in San Diego, you can start with photos. We'll give you a preliminary number, and if you'd like to go ahead you ship the piece to us insured; once our experts have inspected it and the sale is final, payment goes out right away.
