Sir Jackie Stewart is a former Formula One driver, broadcaster, and motorsports executive. He’s a philanthropist, too. The man is one of the most accomplished you could ever know. He is known for his racing achievements, his advocacy for safety, and his work with organizations that help people with dyslexia. Naturally, since I’m a third-generation jeweler with particular fondness for luxury watches, I love that Sir Jackie Stewart is also a Rolex Testimonee.
Stewart is a three-time Formula One World Drivers' Champion. He had twenty-seven Formula One Grand Prix wins and forty-three top-three finishes in ninety-nine career starts. He’s a pillar of safety advocacy for his sport. He pioneered a great many motorsports safety improvements, including seat belts, full-face helmets, and emergency personnel at races. That’s already commendable, right?
There’s more to what this man has accomplished. He established Race Against Dementia to raise funds for research into the disease. He’s also been a tireless advocate in other ways, working with organizations that help people with dyslexia.  In fact, he founded Dyslexia Scotland, and that led to Scotland becoming the first country to train all new teachers about learning disabilities. Is it any surprise that he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2001?

Like many Rolex Testimonee brand ambassadors, Sir Jackie was a customer before he became an ambassador. Stewart bought a yellow-gold President in 1966. He bought the Day-Date with prize money he won at the Monaco Grand Prix. It wasn’t until two years later that Stewart was invited by Rolex to be a brand ambassador. He’s certainly a brand advocate. For more than fifty-five years he’s recommended Rolex, specifically the Daytona, and he’s even tailored his shirt sleeves to be shorter to make the watch more visible!
I think there are many fascinating Rolex ambassadors, and I think Sir Jackie Stewart is a great example of one. If you’re in the market for a pre-owned Rolex in San Diego, I hope you’ll give me a call. If I don’t have what you’re looking for, I can probably find it for you.
