Getting married is an exciting time in someone’s life, and nothing tops finding your soul-mate who loves you just the way you are. The search is over, and you are getting ready to commit the rest of your life and your whole heart in this person to whom you will say, “I do.” Well, we’re jewelers, and we think we’re very good at what we do, but we’re not relationship counselors. Nonetheless, after being privileged to be a part of so many marriage ceremonies, we do have a few ideas. To keep things simple, here are only two questions to ask yourself:
How do you feel when you’re around him?
Does he make you feel like you are the Queen of his world? A man who loves his woman will make her feel safe, protected, and appreciated. He knows you inside and out, all your dirt, the good, bad and the ugly, and he still makes you feel safe around him. You feel no judgment, only acceptance. You’ve spent a great deal of time with him getting to know each other, and whatever dirt you have on him is safe with you too. You got each other’s backs. Nothing he says or does can diminish your love for him, and the same goes with him too. He cannot imagine his life without you, and he has proven over time that he will fight for your relationship no matter what.
Is he emotionally responsible?
What are your conflicts like when you disagree? Do tantrums flare or do you talk things out? Nobody’s perfect… Some people have come from broken homes where they did not learn the proper way to love, cherish and protect, so they can’t give what they don’t have, unless they learned it from an alternative source like a best friend or a healthy adult mentor. Whatever the case may be, make sure your partner is humble enough to seek help from healthy sources in order to work out kinks in your relationship. We hurt the ones we love the most, and if we don’t learn how to resolve things in a healthy manner, this will quickly dissolve the passion in the relationship, which becomes the root of all marital evils.
Well there you have it! It’s not perfect marital advice, but it’s the best we can do. On the other hand, we’re pretty confident you’ll never find better advice about your wedding bands than you’d get from us. We’re a third generation jeweler, and we want to delight you and to make you a customer for life.
