A Company Committed to Consumers.
The Gemological Institute of America (The “GIA” in “GIA Certified Diamonds”) was founded in 1931. They were organized in order to protect jewelry customers and jewelers by setting standards for the identification and valuation of gems and for creating best business practices in the jewelry industry. The Ethisphere Institute, a non-profit corporate watchdog, honored the GIA in 2013 as a Most Ethical Company. From their website, the Institute explains that “The World’s Most Ethical (WME) Companies designation recognizes companies that truly go beyond making statements about doing business ‘ethically’ and translate those words into action. WME honorees not only promote ethical business standards and practices internally, they exceed legal compliance minimums and shape future industry standards by introducing best practices today.” When a diamond is GIA Certified, you know that certification comes from an organization committed to ethical business practice. We also love that the GIA isn’t a trade group. It’s a non-profit organization dedicated to the public interest.
GIA Certified Diamonds is the Standard.
If you’ve done any research into GIA Certified Diamonds, you’ve already heard about the Four Cs. These standards for cut, clarity, carat weight, and color were developed by the GIA so there would be objective ways to measure the quality of a diamond. (In fact, most standards for not just diamonds but also pearls and colored stones were codified by the GIA.) When we sell a diamond, it comes with a report from the GIA that outlines their certification of the diamond in relation to the standards. The report details the cut, the weight, the clarity, and overall quality of the diamond. When you buy a GIA Certified Diamond from Bert Levi Family Jewelers, you get an independent verification of the quality of the investment you’re making, a verification from a public interest organization dedicated to protecting consumers. Sure, we’ve done all we can to make our reputation worthy of trust but with the investment made in a diamond purchase, we like that we can offer something objective as well.
A Jeweler You Can Trust.
At Bert Levi Family Jewelers, we deal in GIA certified diamonds, and we always have a GIA Accredited Jewelry Professional on staff. We love that there are a great many San Diegans that already know they can rely on our reputation for fairness, service, and quality. We also love that we can provide objective ways to analyze a jewelry purchase and a laboratory report outlining the quality of every GIA certified diamond we sell. We’re a third generation jeweler, and we stake our reputation on our integrity, our commitment to excellence, and our ethical stand. GIA Certified Diamonds just make sense when the standard is set so high.
