Don’t Overspend on an Engagement Ring

If you’re in the market for an engagement ring, you’ve probably heard a great deal about diamonds. There’s a great deal of information out there from a great many different sources with different goals and different ideas. Not all of those goals may be the same as your goals. You may have heard of the three-month salary guideline. You may have heard about all of the programs available so you can spend even more than three months’ salary.

At Bert Levi Family Jewelers, we have always believed overspending on an engagement ring is a very bad idea. It isn’t only the wealthy who get married, and not everyone can spend three months’ salary on a ring. Some people would have a hard time handling even a full check! We don’t think it’s a good idea to put yourself in debt at the start of your marriage, especially since financial issues can lead to heartbreak.

We’re a third-generation jeweler, and we’ve been very fortunate to be a part of a great many engagements in a very small way. We advocate taking care to be cautious when it comes to spending and to never spend beyond what you can afford. We work very hard to make beautiful, elegant engagement rings for every budget and we also make sure customers know their options.

You should know your options, too.

Did you know a lab grown diamond can be significantly less expensive than one mined from the Earth but is exactly the same substance? Did you know you there can be a very big price difference between a one carat diamond and a diamond that is just slightly under a carat? Did you know that gems other than diamonds are growing in popularity?

When it comes time to buy an engagement ring, you want one that symbolizes your love and commitment. Don’t spend so much on the symbol that it hurts what it symbolizes! If you’re looking for an engagement ring in San Diego, drop by the showroom. Or feel free to give us a call or send us an email. You’ll be glad you did.
