Do You Have Diamond Ring You’d Like to Sell?

I’m a third-generation jeweler, and I learned at the feet of my father and my grandfather. I really have had no time since early childhood when a jewelry showroom wasn’t a central part of my life. My grandfather taught me a great many things. Perhaps the most important thing he taught me was that jewelry is so much more than just the metal and the gems used in its manufacture. Jewelry commemorates relationships and special events.

Wedding jewelry is, of course, where the commemoration of relationships and special events is the most obvious. So, sometimes when someone comes to me to sell an engagement ring or any other diamond ring, it can be a very emotional time. Of course, there are times when someone ends up with an engagement ring to sell and it has nothing at all to do with the end of a relationship. People inherit jewelry and even buy jewelry in lots. One of my favorite reasons people sell engagement rings is because they’re buying an upgraded ring.

Regardless of the reason someone might sell, everyone who sells an engagement ring wants to be treated respectfully and fairly. You want an honest buyer who will handle things completely above board. If you want to sell your engagement ring in San Diego, there are a number of choices available to you. First and foremost, stay away from those “We Buy Gold” stores. Your ring is more than just gold, and even if your diamond or other gem isn’t worth much, these stores only pay you a fraction of what you should be paid.

In general, a pawn shop will treat you fairly but that doesn’t mean you’ll get a fair price. Pawn shops have expenses like any other business. They make their money primarily from loans. When they buy directly, they need to buy at a price that makes sense for them, and that isn’t always the best price you can get. They’re honest and honorable, no question, but you’re going to get a much better price from a jeweler.

And I’d love the chance to be that jeweler. If you need a jewelry buyer in San Diego, give me a call. I’m committed to fair dealing and win-win negotiation. So, reach out or just drop by my La Jolla showroom. You’ll be glad you did.
