I have an inventory of fine timepieces available for customers who want a pre-owned Rolex in San Diego. One of the popular models of pre-owned Rolexes is the Rolex Sea-Dweller. Made for career divers or hobbyists who dove so regularly that it made sense to treat them like professionals, the Rolex Sea-Dweller is often considered the most reliable diving watch available.
The Sea-Dweller’s first depth rating was an impressive 2000 feet but it has continued to increase as the years have passed. Development was spurred in the 1960’s by COMEX, a French commercial diving company. They noted a technical error with Rolex submariner watches. Long dives and heavy pressure caused a buildup of helium particles in the watch. The helium could pass into the watch but couldn’t escape during decompression. The watch would actually explode as pressure built up!
Rolex performed a quick fix, adding an escape valve. However, the watches required regular maintenance. Every six months or so, they were sent to Rolex for the maintenance. Then, in 1967, Rolex unveiled Model 5514. This one had the Comex logo and ID number. The Sea-Dweller was Model 1665, and was originally called the Sea-Dweller Submariner 2000. Starting in the mid-1970’s the new model was called the Rolex Sea-Dweller.
A lot has changed!
How about a depth rating of 4,000 feet? That happened soon thereafter. Well, how about 12, 800 feet? That’s where the Sea-Dweller is right now. The Sea-Dweller also has a sporty design that continues to attract customers as a fashion decision and not just as a tool watch.
So, I want to buy yours. If you want to sell a Rolex in San Diego, won’t you reach out. You can call me or you can just drop by my La Jolla showroom. I’m committed to win-win opportunities and you’ll always get a fair deal. So, drop by. You’ll be glad that you did.
