If you’re looking to find a pre-owned Rolex buyer in San Diego, look no further. I’d love to take a look at your GMT Master, and it’s very likely I’ll buy it. Pre-owned Rolexes make up a large portion of my business, and if you call me or drop by my La Jolla showroom, I’m sure we could come to a fair deal.

The Rolex GMT Master is one of the most stunning and brilliantly designed wristwatches of all time. This unique watch was created specifically for pilots. Pan American Airlines approached Rolex asking for a watch that could display two time zones simultaneously. This was an entirely new idea. Ordinarily, a pilot would need two timekeeping devices. These days it seems like a small thing. This is because it’s so easy for us now that we don’t realize how revolutionary things were.

Pan Am made the request in 1950. Rolex announced the release of the first GMT Master four years later. GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time, the time zone that served as standard time. Everything else was GMT plus or minus a number of hours. The first GMT master had a choice of black dials or white dials. Pam Am asked for that as well. Crews on the planes would wear the black dial. Crews on the ground would wear the white.

In the 1970’s, the GMT Master grew in popularity, and the market expanded well beyond the airline industry. Even today, the GMT Master is a popular choice although its manufacture was discontinued more than twenty years ago. If you have a GMT Master you’d like to sell, I hope you’ll get in touch. I’m a third-generation jeweler committed to giving you a fair deal. If you reach out, you’ll be glad you did.
